Can Çakmur is one of the pianists of his generation

Since he was awarded the first prize at the Hamamatsu Competition, he has been active on the concert circuit, recording studio and is a passionate teacher. In the recent years,, his focus has been recording the complete works of Schubert in combination with works by other composers which stand in relation to Schubert.

This latest program shines a spotlight on Robert Schumann. Schumann held Schubert in the highest esteem and was one of the first to recognise him as one of the most visionary composers to have ever lived and this alone would have justified this coupling. However, Cakmur delves deeper, using the program as a springboard for a philosophical discussion about naturalism within German Romanticism.
